Our purpose is to become like Jesus.

Come Grow With Us!

God wants a life-changing relationship with you.

We have a highly valued relationship, as a community of believers.

We believe that together in fellowship, we grow closer to God and one another. The Bible speaks about iron sharpening iron. We believe by meeting, worshiping, and studying together, we grow stronger as a community of believers.

We strive to be a church without walls because Jesus calls for us to go outside our walls to where the lost and broken are. While some churches find it

comfortable to stay within their walls, we strive to be like the church from the Book of Acts, living in the hope of seeing changed hearts of the broken and lost in Norland, known as “the land between.”

We value God’s Word, and the Holy Spirit’s leadership as we seek to imitate His Son, Jesus Christ.

We want to spread the Good News of His Grace to all of the lost and broken, and lead those who have no hope to the glorious hope of Jesus Christ.

Who We Are

Our Mission

As a body of believers who joyfully and obediently honour God by practicing love according to 1 Corinthians 13, we:

1. Love Jesus, know Him intimately, and strive to become like Him (Mark 12:34; Philippians 3:8-11).

2. Love and serve the Christian family by word, deed, time, and resources (John 13:34-35).

3. Love others compassionately while seeking to know them intentionally (Mark 12:31; 1 Peter 2:12).

Our Vision

We strive to be a church without walls. Jesus calls for us to go outside our walls to reach the lost and the broken in our community. Most churches find it comfortable to stay within their walls, but we try to be like the church from the Book of Acts who wanted to see the hearts of those in their community changed. Therefore, we love Christ, and our community, as we offer a sense of belonging, purpose, and hope through Jesus.

Our Values

We highly value close relationships with one another. We seek to grow through fellowship with each other, and ultimately, to grow closer to God. We value the Word of God, and the leadership of the Holy Spirit. We look to extend grace to all of the lost and broken, and to lead those without hope to find the hope and purpose that comes through a relationship with Jesus Christ.

SMALL BEGINNINGS

Our History

  1. Around 1928, Pastor Gordon Melish and his wife came from Toronto’s Jarvis Street Baptist to do visitation, and meet for Sunday school in the Norland area schools before heading on to missionary work in Liberia, Africa, within a couple years.
  2. Pastor Boomer continued for a few years, followed by Pastor Frank Vaughan and his family.
  3. When modernization came in the 1940s, and the LeCraw family donated land, Pastor Frank Vaughan and his family saw the building of the current log house and church seating 80 people for Sunday services.
  4. Until 1990, Kinmount and Norland shared a pastor, and in 1991, the final addition of a 150-seat church auditorium was built in Norland and later renovated.
  5. Over the years, Norland’s pastors have included Frank Vaughan, Ian Macintyre, Ron Wood, Ron MacLean, Roy Vanderlip, Ross Fogwell (for 35 years until 2021) assisted by Youth Pastor Tim Wessell (for 20 years until 2013), and Michael Paquette from 2021 to the end of 2023.
